Do You March to the Beat of Your Own Drummer?

Heather Dominick interviewed me the other day for her group and she made this comment, “We’re all marketing to ourselves.” I believe there’s a lot of truth in that. If so, and you’re reading this, this list of characteristics may describe you:

You have gifts and wisdom to share with the world that can change lives.

You have never felt completely understood by most people.

You never quite fit in with the rest of the world. In fact, according to personality theory, we comprise only about 10% of the population!

You long for connection. In your younger years, you probably were drawn to people for a physical /emotional connection and later realized there was little mental or deeply intuitive connection with that person. As Stuart Lichtman says, the latter two types of connection last the longest. I believe they are also the most important for our personality type.

You have a hard time zoning in on one career path. You have so many interests and talents it’s tough knowing which one to pursue or how all the many threads fit together.

At a deep level you know there is a common thread in everything you do and are groping to uncover how it all fits together. What is the higher meaning in it all? When you catch a glimpse of that, it’s like finding gold.

You feel a great bond and kinship with anyone who understands you on a mental or deeply intuitive level.

You have a strong spiritual connection to something higher than yourself. You realize that you are not alone and that finding this deeper connection helps to not only satisfy the lack of connection you feel with most people, but also allows you to tap into the source of all creativity.

Anyone who can bring clarity and meaning is a favorite mentor and/or friend.

You have a great vision, but struggle to maintain it consistently. For stretches of time you feel like you’re on top of the world and can see the grand vision, and then you get lost in the details, forget who you are, and feel low or depressed.

You have a strong sense that you can be the creator of your own life. That you have the power to co-create with the Infinite.

March to the beat of your own drummerYou collect people. You eventually realize that to create the world you envision, you’ll need to collect the people who get you, who share your vision, and create your own community.

You place a high value on your freedom. Because you are different from the masses, you highly value your ability to think for yourself, to pursue your own path, to create your own life, and to march to the beat of your own drummer. The more you embrace this freedom for yourself, the more you want to protect it for others.

You’re a pioneer. You’ve invented a new way of doing things, your own take on how to assist others and improve the world.

Is this you? If so, please leave a comment below. I’d love to hear if any of these fit you and how. 🙂
